Chapter Nine

It had been a long yet enjoyable afternoon. By the time Chloe and Colton were back at the hotel, the sun had fully set, and the night air had gotten much cooler. They retreated to their hotel suite, first showering to rinse away the day's activities and then having a light dinner served by their private chef.

The couple decided to take advantage of the private screened-in balcony near the rear of their suite. It was a lovely, romantic space ideal for the kind of quiet night Colton and Chloe looked forward to enjoying. A warm double-sided fireplace offered soft ambient light that lit the space and re-lit the space as the flames ebbed and flowed. Colton extended his hand, which Chloe willingly took, and she followed him to a seating area composed completely of oversized pillows. Colton made sure that Chloe was comfortably seated before sitting down next to her. They had already enjoyed a fantastic meal prepared by the personal chef that was a part of their accommodations. The only goal for the remainder of the evening was to relax.

“Today has been more than wonderful,” Chloe said as she snuggled under Colton. “I can't decide what was the best part, though,” she continued. “The giraffes on the balcony, oh my God, I still can't get over that. They were right there. It was so amazing even though I was a little bit scared,” she added at the end. “But then to be amongst so many extraordinary creatures seeing them in their natural habitat, we, being the visitors without being invasive, was so good, too.”

“I'm glad you enjoyed yourself, love, but I'm not thinking about any of that right now,” Colton crooned.

“But you have to admit, Colt, there were so many wonderful, unexpected moments that I just can't stop thinking about. These have been once-in-a-lifetime experiences, and even with all of that, I am so excited for tomorrow, going into the mine, getting my hands dirty, trying to discover new treasures. Like what happens if we find an amazing stone. Will we be able to take it back with us, or do we have to go through customs or something like that?”

Chloe rambled on, and Colton listened. He was happy for her. All he ever wanted was to make Chloe happy. He in no way wanted to dim her excitement, but he had other things on his mind. And as a new thought entered her head, she spoke it out loud.

“Are we sure everything is on schedule for tomorrow? What if we have difficulty with the translation? I mean, that could potentially ruin the entire experience.”

Just as Chloe began a new train of thought about their scheduled activities for the next day, Colton’s finger went to his lips, and he quieted her. Colton lifted himself from the pillows, positioning himself in front of her. Chloe looked into his dark eyes, illuminated by the full moon’s light. She saw his intention. Colton smiled a sinister, seductive, salacious smile. Easing up her sheaf and then easing down her lace panties.
